Shadows in Ice

$7,500.00

Shadows in Ice is a reflection of that fragile moment when the frozen parts of ourselves begin to thaw. For so long, we keep our shadows locked beneath the surface—frozen in place by fear, doubt, and the weight of everything we haven’t yet become. We convince ourselves it’s safer that way. If we keep the past contained, if we keep our hopes on ice, maybe we won’t feel the sting of disappointment. But ice doesn’t stay frozen forever. In this piece, the thaw has already begun. The shadows—the reminders of who we could be, the visions that follow us, whisper to us, haunt us—start to melt and bleed into the present. And as they do, something unexpected happens: they stop feeling threatening and start becoming part of us.

This painting is about allowing those frozen memories, fears, and possibilities to merge into who we are—not as something to run from, but as something that fuels us forward. It’s about accepting that the past, the present, and the future are not separate. They collide. They melt. They transform. And when you finally stop trying to keep them frozen, you realize the shadows were never there to intimidate you. They were there to guide you. What vision keeps following you, refusing to disappear? And what might happen if, instead of keeping it on ice, you let it finally melt into who you’re becoming?
